The Tulsa Jammers need your support!
Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 4th to join The Center’s Tulsa Jammers, our Junior Wheelchair Sports [JWCS] Team at the Tulsa 66ers Basketball Game! This is a great opportunity to promote the Tulsa Jammers as well as THE CENTER for Individuals with Physical Challenges . . . info booth, PSAs and third quarterbreak!
The Jammers are raising funds to participate in the National Wheelchair Basketball Conference in Colorado Springs in late March. Currently ranked 3rd in the Southwest Conference, the Jammers are ranked 16th in the Nation out of over 50 teams! It has been 10+ years since the Jammers have attended a National Tournament, and we want this to be an incredible experience.

The Center hosted a press conference on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 4:00p to announce a partnership with the US Paralympics Team.
U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, and THE CENTER for Individuals with Physical Challenges [THE CENTER] have partnered to create Paralympic Sport – Tulsa.
Paralympic Sport – Tulsa is a community-based sports club developed to involve youth and adults with physical and visual disabilities in ongoing sports and physical activity, regardless of skill level. All programs and activities will be based in Tulsa and run by THE CENTER.

Thank you Christopher!
It wasn’t that long ago that Christopher Zumwalde spoke at a Board of Director’s meeting to explain his Eagle Scout project at The Center . . . a new flagpole, lighting and flags. Donations started that day and the total raised for the project was just under $2,000.
On Saturday, Nov. 20th, the project was completed. The United States and Oklahoma flags were raised in a traditional ceremony, assisted by Board Member Bill Doyle and Members Bradley Morgan and Joey Marquecho. Several were in attendance to view the ceremony.
The photographs shown here were taken by Christopher’s mother, Cheryl. Christopher. The Zumwalde family has a very direct connection to The Center . . . Lori Long, Executive Director, is Christopher’s aunt. Christopher said it was an easy decision when determining how he wanted to invest his time and efforts for his Eagle Scout project. Christopher is currently a Life Scout in Troop 975.
Others involved with this project include Oklahoma Mobile Concrete who partially donated the concrete for the base; Everding Electric donated the time and crane to raise the flagpole and install the lighting; ABC Equipment donated the auger; Denny and Cheryl Zumwalde bought the US flag. The total project had 205 hours of time donated which included three adult Scout Leaders and 14 scouts from Troop 975 that helped over the two-day project (this doesn’t include non-scout helpers.)

The Center’s Junior Wheelchair Sports [JWCS] progam includes track and field as well as basketball. At a National JWCS Track & Field competition in Chicago the week of July 19th, two of The Center’s JWCS track and field team won four gold medals!! Congratulations go to:
Kyle Hutchison who won two gold medals by placing first in the Shot Put and first in the Discus.
Logan Shaw also won two gold medals by placing first in Javelin and first in Discus in his division.
We want to acknowledge all of the youth who traveled and participated on behalf of The Center for their efforts. Congratulations also go to Coach Bradley Forbes!

G. Sartain Poster Artwork
Special 25th Anniversary Bartlett Regatta commemorative items will be available June 7th!
The 2010 Bartlett Regatta is honored to have well-known artist and entainer Gailard Sartain design a poster for the 25th Anniversary of this event! Posters, signed and unsigned, will be available to the general public on June 7th.
The 2010 Bartlett Regatta T-shirts with the poster artwork will also be available on June 7th, in limited quantities and sizes.
