Twenty-Third Annual Bartlett Regatta BR Sail logo

May 28, 2008 - Launch Party at The Center

May 31, 2008 - Regatta at Grand Lake

The Bartlett Regatta kicks off with a Launch Party, where guests enjoy a fabulous buffet by Freddie's Catering and cocktails while shopping the live and silent auctions. Guests can bid on such items as vacation get-aways, themed gift baskets, sports memorabilia and more.  Most importantly, guests have the chance to “purchase” their sailboats and hospitality boats for the Regatta — the race competitors enter their vessels in a “live auction of boats,” and Patrons bid for the opportunity to sponsor a boat and participate as crew.  Patrons will experience the starting line action and the competitive racing firsthand!

On race day, a fleet of nearly twenty boats gather and sail from Arrowhead Yacht Club on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees.  Organized in 1986 as The Center’s first major fundraiser, the Bartlett Regatta is named in the memory of Floyd “Pete” Bartlett, a former Board President and avid supporter.  Over twenty years of sailing in the Regatta has provided exciting traditions for The Center’s friends and supporters.  The 2007 Regatta raised over $140,000 to support The Center's programs and services!

Ticket prices are $50 per person and Patron Sponsorships are $750 and up. Proceeds raised by the Bartlett Regatta support The Center's programs and services.  Click on the links below for more info:

2008 "Legends in Sports" Rivalry Dinner

October 6th

The 2008 Legends in Sports Rivalry Dinner is scheduled for Oct 6th. and will spotlight the University of Texas Longhorns and the University of Oklahoma Sooners football rivalry.

Sponsored by Tulsa Sports Charities and benefitting The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, the sixth annual event will be held at the new SpiritBank Event Center at 10441 South Regal Blvd. (105th & Memorial)

Former University of Texas Linebacker, Lance Taylor (1976–79), said:  “This will be one of the most awesome experiences for Texas and OU fans in the Tulsa area in a long time.   The 2008 version of the Red River Rivalry comes up on Saturday, following the Legends Dinner, so what a way for everyone to start getting ready for the real game.”

A substantial list of Longhorns and Sooners will be in attendance.  Among the players who have committed are former Coach David McWilliams, Peter Gardere, Steve Hall, Jeff Leiding, and Rodney Tate of Texas.  Those among the OU attendees are Coaches Larry Lacewell and Merv Johnson, Clendon Thomas, James Riley, Kenny King, and Steve Owens.

In previous years the Tulsa Sports Charities Legends Dinners have honored Billy Tubbs & Eddie Sutton, 2007; Tom Osborne & Barry Switzer, 2006; Bob Gibson, 2005; Randy White & Bob Lilly, 2004; and Steve Largent, Jim Shoulders, Drew Pearson, and Dale McNamara, 2003.

By honoring outstanding achievements in sports and calling attention to role models for our youth, the dinner epitomizes  Tulsa Sports Charities’s mission of encouraging excellence and preserving our sports heritage. The Center is honored to be associated with an event that provides positive examples of the qualities persons with physical disabilities need in life’s race: perseverance, stamina and adaptability.

Corporate Sponsorships are available.  Tables are priced at $2500, $1500, and $1000.  Individual tickets are on sale for $150.  Proceeds from the "Legends in Sports" dinner support The Center, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and athletic scholarships sponsored by Tulsa Sports Charities.
