2010 Bartlett Regatta a Big Success . . . thanks to YOU!

Everything about the 25th Anniversary of the Bartlett Regatta & Launch Party was above expectations! As of June 21, 2010 over $245,000 has been raised with funds still coming in! There were great crowds at the Launch Party on June 2nd, as well as on Regatta-Race Day [June 5th], as you can see when viewing the photos below. 25th Anniversary of the

Bartlett Regatta & Launch Party

June 2, 2010- Patron Reception at 5:30p and Launch Party at The Center, 6:00p
This year’s event started with the Patron Party, hosted by Arrowhead Yacht Club Chefs and Staff, who provided a marvelous selection of hors d’oeuvresas well as the champagne for the traditional toast by Patron Chairman, Nate Waters.

Record crowds arrived for the Launch Party! The two silent auctions held over 250 items, and the Nielsen’s Gift Bag Pull was a success. Meek’s Litho provided a Photo Booth that was was enjoyed by many.

The Regatta merchandise — Gailard Sartain’s signed and unsigned posters, some really great canvas Skipper tote bags, caps and visors and, of course, Regatta 2010 T-shirts — sold well and are still available for those who wish to buy a commemorative item.

The dinner, catered by TWs-AFAB Catering , was enjoyed by the 400+ guests. The program began with a welcome by the Event Chair, Judy Z. Kishner. Judy, who chaired the first and second Regattas, reminisced about the changes and growth of the Regatta over the past 25 years. The Center’s Executive Director, Lori Long, introduced the premier of a a new marketing video for The Center, which was produced and donated by the Video Department at T.D. Williamson, Inc. Also introduced was the “Every Member” Campaign, and the 2010 Mercedes Benz Car Raffle, presented by Jackie Cooper Imports.

The Live Auction was kicked off by emcee Kristin Dickerson and Auctioneer Extraordinaire, Jay Litchfield. With more than the usual number of premier items, the crowd enthusiastically bid and bought! Not to be outdone, the bidding of the boats kept the evening lively.

June 5, 2010- Regatta at Arrowhead Yacht Club
on Grand Lake; Skipper meeting – 10:00a; Race start at 1:00p
An exciting new aspect of Race Day was the chance to view the sailing action from the water . . . aboard the Cherokee Queen II! This special event of the Regatta was a very generous gift from Sarah & John Graves, Cyclonic Valve Company. Guests on board included Center Members, Board and Staff, as well as others who purchased tickets. The $25 ticket price included a box lunch, soft drinks and two tickets for “adult beverages.” All on board had a chance to view the race and enjoy the breezes from the three decks of the CQII; or from the cool air conditioned comfort inside on two decks.

Special thanks go to Joe Harwood and his crew for solving a last minute loading issue . . . Joe wanted every Center Member to be able to board the CQII, and his crew went above and beyond.

Also lending a hand to ensure smooth sailing for the guests of the CQII were two companies from the Grand Lake area: Allied Mechanical and Integrity EMS.

The Regatta had 13 boats entered on June 4th, and three more boats entering at the Skipper’s Meeting on Race Day for a total of 16 boats. The weather was perfect and it appeared to be pretty smooth sailing for the Skippers and their Crews.
