Meet Pam Mallard
Pam was leaving her workplace as usual one day in May 1997 when she was involved in an auto accident. That is the day that Pam’s life changed forever. As a result of the accident, Pam was paralyzed from the waist down.
It wasn’t until 1999 that Pam learned of The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges and became a Member. Today, she is an enthusiastic ambassador for the services and programs offered at The Center. Pam says, “I’m thankful for this place, and I look forward to coming each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.”
Pam is very disciplined with her workout routine and has the muscles to prove it . . . and she will proudly flex them to show you. She lifts weights and utilizes several pieces of equipment in the Fitness Center. Pam is also a consistent user of the Ergys . . . a piece of rehab equipment that utilizes electrodes connected to legs and hips to electronically stimulate the muscles while the user creates resistance. She also is enrolled in several classes for general wellness and fitness.
Pam also gives back by participating on the Member Activities Committee [MAC], and volunteering and sharing her story with others, in print and video.
One constant with Pam that Staff and fellow Center Members notice . . . she always has a smile on her face and a positive, upbeat outlook.
