Volunteer
  • Teach a class at The Center such as Acting Improv, Arts & Crafts, Creative Cooking, Current Events, Music Appreciation, or a Vocal or Choral Group.
  • Assist a Program Instructor in one of the following classes: Memory & Cognition, Life Skills, or Speech and Communication.
  • Assist in our Art Studio by gathering and passing out supplies, providing one-on-one attention to Members who need extra help, and helping with clean up.
  • Go to the movies with The Center and assist Members by helping them purchase tickets and snacks.
  • Assist with BINGO helping to distribute game cards, call out the spaces, assisting Members, passing out prizes, etc.
  • Go out to lunch with The Center and assist Members with cognitive challenges by reading the menu out loud and helping them place their orders, pay restaurant tabs, and determine an appropriate tip.
  • Pass out silverware, napkins, milk, and straws to Members who have ordered a lunch and assist Members with opening milk cartons, unwrapping straws, cutting food, using the microwave, etc.
  • Go bowling with The Center and assist Members in setting up their ramps and keeping score.
  • Supervise the Member Lounge (help tune radio, make coffee, make sure magazines are available, read to and visit with Members, tidy up, etc.).
  • Solicit donations for Center programming such as art materials, BINGO prizes, Music CDs for fitness classes, blue pads and adult diapers, and healthy snacks and bottled water for the Junior Wheelchair Sports youth.
  • Assist with on-site special events such as the Patriotic Day Ceremony and Member Holiday Dinner by setting up the room (tables and chairs) and refreshments, gathering the Members and assisting them with seating, and helping with clean up after the event.
  • Wash and detail Center vehicles used to take Members on Community Outings.
  • Assist with Outreach to potential Members by helping us maintain and update our mailing lists; providing tours and information about The Center to individuals who are interested in becoming Center Members; contacting support groups to let them know about Center programming; and helping to make packets of Center information used for outreach.
  • Help with enrollment by assisting Members to fill out their enrollment sheets and helping staff enroll Members in specific classes and special events.
  • Assist Members back and forth to their classes. Make sure they get to their classes on time and help them follow their selected schedule.
  • Help Development office plan fundraising events
  • Assist with filing in the Administrative offices
  • Write articles for quarterly newsletters
  • Take photos for the Executive Director
