The Center’s COVID19 Closure response

The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges plans to re-open Monday, July 20. The morning program schedule will begin at 9am and Members can begin arriving at 8am for screening and entrance. All members should enter through the East door at the Corner of E. 8th Street and S. Wheeling. Please call 918-584-8607 with any questions.

To be considered for membership at The Center:

    1. An individual must be 18 years or older. (UNLESS interested in joining Youth Sports Program)
    2. An individual’s primary disability must involve a mobility, dexterity, or sensory impairment.
    3. An individual must have sufficient functional capabilities to participate independently in Center activities; a rational and stable emotional state of health that promotes healthy interaction and socialization; and the cognitive ability to make decisions independently, without causing harm to themselves or other Center Members or staff.
        1. If an individual needs assistance while participating in Center activities, they must provide his/her own personal assistant/ caregiver to participate and take care of his/her personal needs.


      Qualifying diagnoses include but are not limited to:

          • conditions that could potentially cause greater impairment if an individual does not live a healthy, active lifestyle like: arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity
          • degenerative diseases like Multiple Scerlosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s Disease or Spinal Stenosis
          • conditions from birth like Cerebral Palsy or a seizure disorder
          • injuries to the brain and/or spinal cord that cause paralysis or other physical impairments (traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries)
          • limb amputations
          • Blind or visually impaired, as well as Deaf or hard of hearing
          • stroke survivors

      It is important to note that many of our members are ambulatory as assistive devices like wheelchairs are not a requirement for membership.  To see the demographics of our current membership, visit Who We Serve.
