Center Experience is a team-building event that showcases obstacles that people with physical challenges experience in their daily lives. In addition to competing in a variety of adaptive activities, teams from across the Tulsa region compete for the title of Center Experience Champion!
Activities are as listed:
Goalball is the most popular team sport for people who are blind and visually impaired. The object of the game is to roll a ringing ball past your opponents and score. Competitors wear opaque blindfolds to mimic the challenges faced by people with visual impairments.
The goal of Boccia is to throw your ball as close to the jack ball as possible to score points. Faced with physical challenges, your teams’ skills will be tested.
EXPERIENTIAL TEAM RELAY
The Experiential Team Relay will test your ability to complete tasks when faced with physical challenges. Do you know what it’s like to button your shirt with fine motor skill challenges? It’s like buttoning your shirt with oven mitts on your hands. (This could be one of the tasks!)
Successfully complete basketball drills while seated in a basketball wheelchair. This event will give you a new respect for The Center‘s wheelchair basketball players.
Create a masterpiece while using intentional movements designed to test your dexterity and fine motor skills.
Navigate a challenging obstacle course in a motorized power soccer wheelchair. Success requires both speed and control.
The day will commence at 8:00am with breakfast followed by Center Experience Activities from 9:00 – 12:30. The day will conclude with lunch and awards ending by 1:30.
