The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges provides a wide-range of services to adult individuals (18+) with a primary diagnosis of a mobility, dexterity or sensory impairment in Tulsa or the surrounding communities. We call our clients our “members” as they pay a small monthly fee to be a part of our community and utilize our services.
Qualifying diagnoses include but are not limited to:
- conditions that could potentially cause greater impairment if an individual does not live a healthy, active lifestyle like: arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity
- degenerative diseases like Multiple Scerlosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s Disease or Spinal Stenosis
- many of our members are born with a condition like Cerebral Palsy or a seizure disorder which would qualify them for membership in their adult years
- injuries to the brain and/or spinal cord that cause paralysis or other physical impairments
- those that have had limb amputations that use or do not use prosthetics
- individuals who are Blind or visually impaired, as well as Deaf or hard of hearing
- stroke survivors
It is important to note that many of our members are ambulatory as assistive devices like wheelchairs are not a requirement for membership. Below is a chart that shows the common diagnoses of our current membership:
